Pond and Fishing

Welcome to the Pond/Fishing Page!

From a bare-boned crater and dam in 1997 to a stocked one-acre pond, this is the story of the Hillcrest pond and the family fishing memories that followed.

The early pond

The Hillcrest was purchased from Dr. Eric Swensson in the Fall of 1997. The prior spring and summer Dr. Swensson oversaw the construction of a pond on the northwest corner of the Hillcrest, and in the Fall of that year the pond remained a bare-boned crater and dam. We then capped off the drain pipe and by the following spring we had about an acre sized pond. The pictures above depict the pond in those early stages.

Stocking the pond

The boys are shown here floating the new fishlings: bass, bluegill, shellcracker, and catfish. This would be in the spring of 1998.

Notice Paul once again being caught in UM apparel, a frequent occurrence until he went to the dark side.
